To keep all passengers comfortable the Highlander comes standard with Tri-zone automatic climate control while the Palisade only offers dual-zone climate control as an available feature on higher trims. 

In addition, available interior features for the Highlander include ambient lighting, a household-style power outlet, the choice of a moonroof or panoramic moonroof, and a universal garage door opener. None of which are offered in the Palisade. 

The two SUVs are nearly identical when it comes to cargo space with the Highlander boasting a total of 84.3 cubic feet of cargo space and the Palisade just surpassing it with 86.4 cubic feet of space. However, the additional two feet of space may be negated by the fact that it takes away all passenger space behind the first row. If the entire family is taking a trip, you'll be better off in the Highlander which offers double the Palisades cargo space behind the third row. 

Technology

Both vehicles have a standard 8-inch touch screen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto. If you're a fan of Amazon's Alexa you'll want to opt for the Highlander to get that integration as well as a Wi-Fi hotspot, and satellite radio. 

The Highlander also has an available 12-speaker Harman Kardon sound system to contend with the Palisade 11-speaker JBL system. 

Safety 

To get top-of-the-line safety features you'll have to scale up to a higher trim on the Palisade, while the Highlander packs a great deal of safety and driver assistance features into its base trim. Things like a rearview camera, forward collision warnings, and adaptive cruise control are standard on both vehicles. But the Highlander adds lane departure warnings, lane trace assist, and most impressively provides rear-seat reminders without any additional cost - this feature alerts drivers to the presence of children, pets, or even groceries in the rear seat so that nothing gets forgotten.
