Best thing going in a cheap car
By photogeezer | on Thursday, April 23, 2020
We chose the Corolla as a second car for numerous city chores that were eating us up on gas. As a city/commuter car, the Corolla does not disappoint. We find it to be fairly quiet, so much so that we can hear conversations in other cars at stoplights. We chose Toyota for reliability, and sweetened the deal by opting for a "J" vin number to guarantee Japanese quality control. While I am less than enamored with CVT transmissions, it is true that Aisin makes them for Toyota. I find acceleration, though not sporty, entirely adequate for all our driving. On highway hills, shifting is a bit erratic and the car growls on steep sections, things I think are characteristics of the CVT with this engine. We do not hesitate to take our Corolla on road trips. I keep most of the nanny safety features turned off, especially those that work with cruise control. I don't use it in town, which is almost always. Blind spot monitoring does not pick up bicycles. I don't trust any of this stuff with my safety; I'd rather just be as careful as always. And if your windshield, bumpers or rear quarter panel are damaged, expect expensive repairs to the sensors that are part of this system. The seats are adequate, actually better than I expected. The limited passenger and storage space are reminders that it is, after all, a cheap car. A Camry we looked at was not a lot better, and I could not easily get into the rear seat. Our Corolla is no worse in this regard. I don't buy off on "driving excitement". I expect this Corolla to do its job reliably, like my refrigerator.… - 4.0
Awesome car.... except for that one thing
By MDenum | on Wednesday, October 23, 2019
I purchased the 2020 Corolla Hybrid. I'm averaging 53.2 MPG, which is definitely a step up from the Cadillac ATS that I traded in. The car is super sound. Road noise is minimal and engine noise is nearly nonexistent. The interior is very comfortable and the climate controls and multimedia setup is laid out perfectly with just enough physical button to touchscreen ratio. The drive is smooth and I only felt the big potholes. My only complaint is that the interior finishes feel a little cheap but most importantly, the entune3.0 interface for audio and gps is absolutely terrible. Entune constantly reads an error or update required on the touchscreen and the Scout gps app only functions half the time. Android users might want to consider another option for a vehicle, or switch to iPhone. This is still a fantastic car with only minor inconveniences that I myself can live with.… - 5.0
The best selling car
By Jona | on Monday, April 20, 2020
I've bought my 2020 corolla in oct 2019 and in few month of ownership i love the comfort of the car and the tech that they put in the corolla but they're are some few bad thing in it like were is android auto and Toyota's safety sense is to annoying and basic and the engine dont have a lot of power and tech but thankfully the cars gets software updates but for a best selling car in the world its pretty good if you're sombody that don't travel far and need a smooth transportation the corolla is were to go but if you make a lot of mileage or kilometers and need a lot of tech comfortable and better styling than the Corolla and better power and you're a parent the civic is the way to go…
